Set in the Surrey countryside the garden at Ivy Cottage is designed as a contemporary cottage garden. It was wonderful to see the garden on the front cover and featured in the June issue of The English Garden Magazine. Beautiful pictures of the garden taken in the Summer by Joanna Kossak and brought to life with words by Jill Anderson.
The garden is a true extension of the home providing numerous garden rooms in which to dine, entertain, relax, and even accommodates spaces for home working. The key feature in the garden is a natural swimming pond with hot tub and a shepherd’s hut which doubles up as a changing room and garden bar.
A passion for plants and growing is clear in this cottage garden. Borders brimming with bulbs, perennials, ornamental grasses, shrubs and many different varieties of trees, provide interest during every season. There is also a kitchen garden and orchard providing opportunities to grow fruit, vegetables and cut flowers.
The garden transitions into the surrounding landscape seamlessly with a looser, naturalistic energy as you move further away from the cottage. Whether it be habitat creation, food for birds and mammals or pollinator friendly planting, this is a garden that supports biodiversity and is beneficial to both people and wildlife.
